Globeleq is an experienced operating power company, actively developing energy solutions for the emerging markets of Africa, the Americas and Asia.  We develop economically sustainable businesses that support the continued development of the electric power sector in these regions and actively participate in the communities in which we operate.

The company was launched in 2002 when the UK's CDC Group contributed both equity capital and its portfolio of power assets to the new enterprise.  Over the next 5 years, Globeleq became a power industry leader in the emerging markets by operating or acquiring interest in multiple power facilities totaling nearly 4,000 MW of generation capacity in more than 20 countries. In 2007, Globeleq divested its holdings in a number of power companies in its portfolio. This generated substantial income for its shareholder and uniquely positioned Globeleq with capital to invest to support further growth and development of the power industry in its target regions of Africa, the Americas and Asia.
