Torbjorn Caesar
Chairman

Torbjorn Caesar has more than 20 years experience in the energy sector, most of it in emerging markets.  He was Globeleq's CEO from July 2006 until his appointment as Chairman in December 2007. He is co-head of Actis's infrastructure business, with specific responsibility for its power-related activities.

Torbjorn was directly involved in Globeleq's initial acquisitions in Africa and Asia.  From 1987 to 1999 he held positions of increasing responsibility in ABB in power plant service, sales, development and finance.  He has a Master's of Science in mechanical engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and an MBA from IMD in Switzerland.

Peter Giller

Peter Giller has more than 35 years of experience in the international power industry. From 2000 to 2002, he was Chief Executive Officer of International Power.

Previously, he was President of ABB Energy Ventures, responsible for the development, ownership and operation of power plants in the United States, Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Suman Babbar
Director

Suman Babbar has been actively engaged with the power sector and project finance over the last four decades.  He started his career in the electrical equipment manufacturing industry in India.  From 1975-1985 he managed the Corporate Planning function for the National Thermal Power Corporation and was a founding member of the team which established NTPC, a leading Indian utility.

Since then he has been at the World Bank in various capacities and until recently managed the Project Finance and Guarantees program at the World Bank. He has had operational involvement in nearly thirty countries across all regions.  Currently, he advises the Africa Energy team and the Environment Group at the World Bank.

Mikael Karlsson
Chief Executive Officer

Mikael Karlsson was appointed as CEO in April 2009 and has extensive senior management experience in global development, acquisition, financing and equity investments of energy and infrastructure assets.

His 19 years in the industry began in 1990 at ABB Equity Ventures, which developed and invested in independent power projects throughout the world. Over the next 12 years he held various senior management positions within the company including global head of development and new investments.

Mikael’s association with Globeleq started in 2002 while advising on acquisition opportunities in Africa and Asia. In 2003 he co-founded InfraInvest, which advised on energy and infrastructure investments and led to the inception of Arox Infrastructure and Arox Capital, focusing on the management of infrastructure funds.

Dominique Candrian
Director

Dr. Dominique Candrian is the Managing Director of EIC Partners AG and a board member of Energiedienst Holding AG, a publicly listed electricity supplier in Germany. 

During his 20-year career in the international private power industry he has lived in Switzerland, the US, Taiwan, Morocco and India. From 1997 to 1999 he was Vice President of ABB Energy Ventures, responsible for the Middle East and India.

Alison Mahoney

Alison Mahoney is the Trust and Company Managing Director of Legis Corporate Services, a leading provider of offshore legal, fiduciary and administrative services in Guernsey.

With over 20 years experience in the offshore finance industry, she has held senior positions with Barclays Wealth and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.  She is both ICSA and STEP qualified.
